Kyoto Fushimi Inari Taisha & Kiyomizu-dera Temple Area Semi Private Small Group Bus Tour Kyoto Ceramic Center

Enjoy plenty of popular Kyoto tourist spots, stroll the Fushimi Inari Taisha head shrine famous for its vermilion Torii gates and Kiyomizu-dera Temple area, complete with souvenirs.

This tour takes visitors to locations representing some of Kyoto's very best - the Fushimi Inari Taisha and the Kiyomizu-dera Temple.
The tour provides a close encounter with the sprawling townscape of a distant age, recognized and protected by the Japanese government as "Groups of Traditional Buildings". Travellers are recommended to let themselves be led by the beauty of the temple road and townhouses to the Kiyomizu-dera Temple itself, and to experience the grace of local "Kyoyaki" and "Kiyomizuyaki" ceramic art.

Fushimi Inari Shrine

Fushimi Inari shrine was founded in 711. The custom of donating the building of Torii (red gates) started in 1830. The Torii symbolize a prayer of the donors. 2.5 million local and foreign visitors are said to come every Hatsumode(January 1st-3rd).

Kiyomizu-dera Temple

The Kiyomizu-dera Temple was founded in 788 and registered as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. Based on historical records, this magnificent temple has been destroyed and rebuilt 9 times over the years, and the current structure was built in 1633. Not a single nail was used in the construction of this grand temple, and the stage that overlooks the city of Kyoto is magnificent.

Kiyomizu-dera Temple area stroll

The Kiyomizu-dera temple is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, specifically one of the "Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto". The temple road that leads visitors there is lined with stores you'll be sure to want to visit on the gentle yet ever-bustling sloped streets of Ninen zaka St. and Sannen zaka St.
The Yasaka Koshin-do Temple - located near the local five-storied pagoda landmark Hokanji Temple - is where you can find the bright and colorful "Kukurizaru"; a protective deity in the form of a monkey with bound feet and hands. The Kukurizaru can be found hanging around the area in abundance, making this location incredibly popular with young women and others with a passion for social media.

Ninen zaka St. and Sannen zaka St.

Ninen zaka St. and Sannen zaka St. are a stone pavement pathway originally made for worshipers who visit Kiyomizu-dera Temple. There are several restaurants, Kyoto souvenir shops, and local Japanese goods shops lined in this pathway. This area is perfect to enjoy the beauty, and experience the emotions of Kyoto.

Yasaka-no-to (Yasaka Pagoda)

The Five-Storied Pagoda in this area was originally built in 592 and was destroyed by fire and also rebuilt several times. The current Pagoda we see today was rebuilt in 1440. Yasaka-no-to (Yasaka Pagoda) is an important part of the scenery of this area.

Kyoto Ceramic Center

Ceramics produced and fired in Kyoto are known as "Kyoyaki" and "Kiyomizuyaki".
The first known recording of these words appears in the year 1605.
The Kyoto Ceramic Center plays a large role in the promotion of Kyoyaki and Kiyomizuyaki as a traditional art. The center features a demonstration corner to support those of younger ages interested in the art, in addition to sales and exhibition spaces for noted creators. The Kyoto Ceramic Center strives for a continued cultural awareness and nurturing of this local craft.
All paid passengers (excluding 0 to 3 years old) will receive a 3,500 JPY discount voucher to be used in the Kyoto Ceramic Center.
