A street approximately 3.6km in length found in the east and west of the Kyoto city center.
The fashionable street of sanjodori is full of long-established teahouses, various antique stores, and old-style buildings popular with fans of retro architecture. Taking a good look at these gives you a real feel for the remains of the Meiji period.
Red brick Western-style buildings such as the The Museum of Kyoto and the Kyoto Nakagyo Post Office are definitely recommended sightseeing spots for your travels.
