An enormous bridge that reaches over the Kamogawa river to the east of Gojodori.
A calming view of Kyoto is presented as your eyes fall on the Kamogawa river from the Gojo Great Bridge itself. The river settles during fine weather, so if you can, enjoying the view from the riverside during these times is also recommended.
It is also famous for being the meeting place of two historical Japanese figures; the military commander of the Minamoto clan, Minamoto no Yoshitsune, and the Japanese warrior monk Benkei. To the west of the bridge stand the statues of Minamoto no Yoshitsune and Benkei, commemorating their meeting in Kyoto doll style.
