Symbol of Osaka! Walking around Osaka Castle
The castle tower was the third one following those of the Toyotomi and Tokugawa eras, and was reconstructed in 1931 with donations from citizens. The castle tower has been in use for more than 90 years and is designated as a registered cultural property of Japan. Since its restoration, the castle has been used as a museum of history, housing a wealth of cultural assets related to the history of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the Warring States Period, and Osaka Castle, and is open to the public in the interior exhibition rooms, which are replaced as needed.
Water bus ride on the waterways of Osaka, the city of water
The "Okawa River" running through the center of Osaka, which the Osaka Aqualiner water bus cruises around, is an aesthetically pleasing space where atmospheric architecture and green trees coexist.
From the surface of the river, the city of Osaka as seen from the water is different from the image of The Osaka, where you can enjoy the waterfront scenery in the heart of the city, full of nature.
Lunch time at Shinsekai, a popular sightseeing and gourmet spot
The first amusement park was built in 1912 with "Tsutenkaku" as its centerpiece. The name "Shinsekai" expresses the people's desire to make the area modern by introducing new culture and technology that did not exist in the old world (Tokugawa era).
In the corner of Shinsekai that stretches to the knee of Tsutenkaku Tower, there is "Janjan Yokocho" that stretches approximately 180 meters from north to south. The name "Jan-Jan Yokocho" was given to the street because of the sound of the shamisen (a three-stringed Japanese musical instrument) and taiko (a drum) being played by callers.
About 50 stores, including kushikatsu (skewered pork cutlets) stores, line the alley. The shopping street has a deep Showa-era atmosphere, including billikens.
